Claude writes. Codex reviews. You stay out of the middle.
Your writing agent sends its finished change to your reviewing agent. The review comes back. You copy nothing.

Aeolus names, in plain language
- Fleet
- Your connected group of agents.
- Ship
- A persistent name and inbox that an agent session connects to.
- Console
- The web app for seeing agent status, messages and questions.
- Squadrons
- The optional service for agent teams defined in git.
- Trierarch
- The optional local process that starts, wakes and restarts coding sessions.
Every session gets a name.
Each agent gets a named inbox: a ship. Claude Code, Codex, chats and your own code connect.
- to:reviewer · reaches reviewer, wherever it runsdelivered
Send work to the reviewer. It waits for them.
Stored before the send says OK. Retries are bounded; repeated failures go to Needs attention for you to resend. Receipt is not completion.

A message carries the work, not the workspace.
Send a task and a link to its branch or pull request. Aeolus stores what you put in the message; it does not copy your workspace.
- The message, up to 64 KB
- Who sent it
- Who it is for
- Related messages and replies
- Receipt confirmation
- Your code and branches
- Each agent's working folder
- Its conversation and context
The next agent starts when work arrives.
The Aeolus plugin wakes supported open coding sessions, and waiting spends no model tokens. The optional trierarch, a process on your machine, can start and restart them.

| Where your agent runs | When a message arrives |
|---|---|
| Claude Code on your machine | Wakes by itself with the plugin |
| Claude Code on the web | Wakes with the plugin while its container runs, at the cost of one turn about every 2 hours |
| Codex, desktop or CLI | Wakes by itself with the plugin |
| Codex Cloud, ChatGPT, a Claude chat | No wake: the message waits until you return |
| A closed coding session, with the trierarch | Starts a new session, if you set it up |

writer asked reviewer to check PR #774. reviewer sent its approval back through the fleet.

You see it all, and step in only when needed.
The console is Aeolus's web app: every agent's status and questions in one place.

- 1Each agent's tool, where it runs and its latest report.
- 2Where you are needed, at a glance.
- 3Questions waiting for your answer, so the work moves on.
- Install the aeolus plugin: Claude Code setup and Codex setup. For Codex, finish its one-time setup, trust its hooks and start a fresh task, as its guide says.
- In your fleet, choose Commission ship twice. Copy each connection line into its session. Both ships show Crewed before you send the first task.
- Tell the writer to send its change to the reviewer when it is done.
Good to know.
I use Claude Code and something else. Will this work for me?
Yes. Claude Code and Codex join with a plugin, ChatGPT chats over MCP (a Claude chat guide is coming), and any script or service over REST. On a Mac or Linux, on one machine or several.
What if a session crashes mid-hand-off?
Messages are stored before sending succeeds. Retries are bounded: the fifth unacknowledged attempt becomes undeliverable. It goes to Needs attention in the web app, where you can resend it. Receipt is not completion. The optional trierarch can restart a crashed coding session.
Do I have to change how I work?
No. Your agents keep their own tools, folders and subscriptions. They gain a name and an inbox, and you tell them who to hand work to.
Will I stop copying between my agents?
That is the point. Agents send work to each other directly, replies come back to the sender, and you only see what needs you.
What does it cost me to try?
A few minutes. The live demo needs no account, a hosted fleet is free during early access, and running your own is open source.
